Club Contest on March 8, 2006

  • Our Evaluation and International Speech Contests will be held at our normal location and normal meeting time on Wednesday, March 8. The winner of each contest will go on to compete at the Area 65 Contest on March 18.

Division F Contest on Sat, Oct 15

  • Come support Lillian and Jeff at the Division F Contest, Sat, Oct 15, 2:30 PM.
  • Lillian came in 2nd in the Table Topics Contest.
  • Jeff tied for 4th place (which is a euphemism for not placing <grin>).

Lake Ridge wins Area 65 Contests on Oct 1, 2005

  • Lillian Cooke took first place in the Table Topics Contest.
  • Jeff Gordon took first place in the Tall Tales Contest.
  • Both will compete at the Division F Contest on Sat, Oct 15.

District 27 on the stage in Toronto, Aug 27, 2005

Because District 27 was a Distinguished District this year, everyone from District 27 who was at the Toastmasters Internal Conference went onto the stage to receive the award. This is a picture of John Greiner, the Toastmasters International President presenting the award to the Immediate Past (Distinguished) District Governor, Donna Gordon, DTM, and all other present members of District 27, several of whom are from our own Lake Ridge Club.

Dues Increase, posted Aug 31, 2005

  • The dues increase passed. The New Member Fee is now $20. The monthly rate went from $3.00 per month to $4.50 per month, which translates to a semi-annual renewal fee of $27 and annual dues of $54.
  • For Lake Ridge members that means that
    • The total new member fee is $25 (including $5.00 to the Club) and a monthly fee of $6.50 ($2.00 to the Club)
    • Semi-annual renewal dues are $39 ($27 to WHQ and $12 to the Club)..

New manuals, Renamed manuals, and New Awards, posted Aug 31, 2005

  • Toastmasters is renaming the manuals and awards for the Communications Track. This is to emphasize that these awards are for Communications only. They are also adding a new manual and designation on the Leadership Track. The new Leadership Manual will be published and available in Feb 2006. All changes are effective July 1, 2006, but anyone who earns any designation between July 1, 2006 and July 1, 2008 can choose whether they want to use the old standards or the new standards. The new designations are as follows:
    • CTM (Competent Toastmaster) is now CC (Competent Communicator).
    • ATM-B is now AC-B (Advanced Communicator - Bronze).
    • ATM-S is now AC-S.
    • ATM-G is now AC-G.
  • There is a new manual for CL that replaces the current CL program.
  • There is a new AL-B (Advanced Leader - Bronze) which is equivalent to the current CL.
  • There is a new AL-S (Advanced Leader - Silver) which is equivalent to the current AL (Advanced Leader)..
