Club Policies

The following are the current Club Policies. See also the Club's By-laws and the Club Constitution and the Standard Bylaws for Clubs of Toastmasters International, a PDF file at the World Headquarters site. .

Inactive Member Policy:

A member automatically becomes inactive if they miss four consecutive meetings unless given a waiver by the Executive Committee. An inactive member automatically becomes active if they attend one meeting.

New Member Policies

  1. The Club authorizes the VP Membership to order and purchase materials required to prepare the Guest and New Member Materials subject to the approved budget.

  2. In order to recoup some of the costs of providing New Member materials, the Club will charge a New Member Fee for all new members of the Club. This fee will be set at $5.00.

  3. New Member Notebook - A 3-ring binder (approximately $2.00) containing new member materials will be provided to new member to encourage them to bring materials to each meeting. Costs associated with the provision of notebooks will be deducted from funds received from new member fees.

  4. Toastmasters Member Pin - Upon joining the club, a new member will receive a Large Toastmasters Pin.

  5. 1st Timers Ribbon - New members will be presented (by the Toastmaster of the Evening) with a 1st Timers Ribbon at the conclusion of their 1st Ice Breaker speech.

Member Achievement Policies

In order for the club to recognize the achievements of members, the Club will give the following to members:

  • Competent Toastmasters Badge ($7.00)
  • Advanced Toastmaster Badge ($7.00)
  • Advanced Toastmaster Silver Badge Attachment ($4.00)
  • Advanced Toastmaster Gold Badge Attachment ($4.00)
  • Competent Leader Badge Attachment ($3.00)
  • Advanced Leader Badge Attachment ($3.00)
  • Distinguished Toastmasters Badge ($7.00)

These will be given to members that achieve these designations for the first time (and register the accomplishment with Toastmasters International and Lake Ridge Toastmasters).

Club Contest Winners Policies

  1. The Club will pay the Registration Fee of club speech contest winners (Humorous, Table Topics, Evaluation and International) at the Area Contest.

  2. The Club will provide Certificates of Appreciation to all participant speakers in club speech contests.

  3. The Club will provide a suitable memento to the winners of club speech contests. The cost should not exceed the budgeted amount.

Dues Policy:

The treasurer will send the Semiannual Report, Membership Report and dues by certified mail return receipt no later than March 20 or September 20.

Lectern/Podium Policy:

The club will no longer distinguish between podium and lectern.

Club Culture/Practices

Name Tags: All members of the Club will be encouraged to wear Name Badges. New members will be given a plastic Name Badge. These badges can be recycled when members receive their CTM badge from the Club. Guests will be given self-adhesive peel off badges for the meetings they attend.
